The ship management company operates in a socially responsible manner, ensuring the safety of people and the environment, through transparent and ethical behavior. Our Main Objectives are: • Zero tolerance to water pollution from Oil, Garbage and Microorganisms that may disrupt the native ecology of visited ports, from negligent and improper management of ballast water • Zero level of accidents • Promoting a safe & healthy environment resulting from a culture of excellence ATHENIAN SEA CARRIERS as to meet its commitment, develop, implement and maintain a Health, Safety, Quality, Environmental and Energy Efficiency Management System which satisfy stakeholders, through continual improvement. All risks are identified and taken into account in order to maintain the above Management system. Pursuing our Health, Safety, Quality, Environmental Policies and awareness, ATHENIAN SEA CARRIERS proceeded with the application and achievement of ISO standards certification starting from year 2000, when re-engineering took place. Environmental & Social Actions to meet our CSR commitment • On board our Takers we have installed the latest technology equipment in order to minimize the environmental footprint of our fleet. • In utilizing the Global Sulfur Cap 2020 regulation we have diminished the S0x emissions by more than 85%. • Our personnel ashore and aboard ships are continuously trained to improve pollution prevention management skills, including preparedness for emergencies. • The manning levels of Athenian fleet significantly exceed Flag State Minimum Safe manning levels. • Athenian Sea Carriers corporate code ensure that entire ship & shore staff are similarly considered valuable assets. • Promoting a no-blame culture and by motivating staff, it is ensured that everybody understands and embraces the requirements of Athenian Management System. • Launching the institution of the “Safety ambassador” onboard, weak signals and unsafe acts are duly reported. Each month a different ambassador is designated by the Master. • Focus on Mental Health onboard: A Campaign on Mental Health at sea was disseminated to all ship’s staff and new Resilience modules “Let’s talk” were issued. • COVID 19 outbreak Management Plan issued for both the office & the vessels. Our office proved ready to work remotely (Office personnel planning to work on site, undergoes a COVID test on a weekly basis. Crew personnel, prior to joining or disembarking, is supplied with a COVID kit. Remote inspections & audits are being conducted by Company Representatives in order to avoid travelling). • Purchase and supply activities are effected in such a way as to be environmentally protective (the purchasing of non-hazardous and asbestos free products, use of recyclable packages and the minimization of packaging). • Recycling is the major theme in our every day working environment. Wastes from plastics, plastic caps, batteries, paper, computer hardware, lamps among others are properly collected and segregated on board our vessels and ashore. Furthermore, specialized companies in the recycling business are valued as partners. • Assistance and support to various organizations with focus on human life (1.Infants Center “Mother”, 2. The Rehabilitation Center for Disabled people of Attica) covering their needs in clothing and consumables. • Participation in various campaigns regarding the protection and medical care of stray animals including support of stray.gr event during the year 2020. • Finally, we are members of HELMEPA and CYMEPA and we have been participating on a yearly basis in the campaign ‘’Let Us Clean Europe’’. All office personnel participates in cleaning specific beaches in Attica.
