AMBASSADORS CLUB OF EBEN BOOKLET 2020 23 ATHENS UNIVERSITY OF ECONOMICS AND BUSINESS The Athens University of Economics and Business (AUEB) has already traversed a historical path going back 100 years. Throughout that time, AUEB has been established as an internationally recognized educational institution in the areas of Economics, Business, and Information Science. The University’s high-quality teaching staff, and the high quality of students the University attracts, have rendered AUEB a center of excellence in both research and education. AUEB academically comprises three Schools: The School of Economic Sciences, the School of Business and the School of Information Sciences and Technology. Its eight Departments offer contemporary undergraduate study programs of certified quality. The broad recognizability of our undergraduate programs in society and the broader economy is attested by the high entry requirements and the high employment rates of our graduates in demanding positions both in the private and the public sector. Our numerous Master programs achieve high positions in international rankings, further adding to their international competitiveness. AUEB’s doctoral and postdoctoral programs attract young researchers of high caliber, who frequently produce research output of the highest quality. The institutional values of the University - Excellence, Innovation, Extroversion and Societal Impact -constitute the University’s pillars of further development. Societal Impact in specific pervades the University’s identity, strategy, and daily operations. AUEB participates in the “United Nations Global Compact” and “Principles for Responsible Management Education” Initiatives and subscribes to the principles of every initiative aimed towards issues of Corporate Governance. AUEB further acts according to the United Nations’ 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). AUEB Volunteers, the University’s central volunteering platform, plays a pivotal role in helping AUEB achieve the 17 SDGs. AUEB Volunteer’s actions are centered around two directions: (a) actions towards the AUEB community, with a goal of maintaining the quality of the University in terms of aesthetics and functionality, and (b) actions aimed at the broader society. “Our University’s pursuit is to always constitute a model public University, which will operate as a distinguished and cohesive academic community producing high quality research and education, and which will enjoy a strong presence in the broader international context”, states AUEB Rector, Prof. Dimitris Bourantonis, further adding: “Using our historical trajectory as a compass, and without straying away from our institutional value of Excellence, the Athens University of Economics and Business steadily carves out its vision for a new, dynamic course to the future.” A public University focused on Excellence
